- Take Junction 36 signposted BARROW.
- Follow A591 and A590 to Greenodd (still BARROW road)
- At Greenodd - large roundabout - take care to turn right on to A5092 signed Broughton-in-Furness
- At Beanthwaite, continue on A595 to Gosforth (signed Whitehaven)
- Continue on A595 to Gosforth, and turn right at Gosforth sign.
- Follow signs to Wasdale through Wellington and Peagill.
- When nearing the valley you see a small fork junction, turn right here into Netherwasdale village, do not continue to Wasdale Head as this will take you away from the village.
- On entering the village, the first large house Low Wood Hall, is on your left at the top of the hill, and immediately to your right is Fern Bank.
